Personal Journey

Jane Prugh Holding Dog

I grew up in St. Louis with 4 siblings, one of which is a twin brother.  After college, I wanted to see the Big Apple so moved to the NYC area (Princeton, New Jersey) where I met my husband and raised two boys.  As adults, both of my sons settled down in Chicago.  And then I picked up and moved to the Wrigleyville area and live 6 blocks from both of them and their families.  Each son has three children, including one set of identical twins, all with whom I build memories – building dollhouses, baking their favorite party cake, gingerbread houses, plays, movies, books, Biking the Drive, Climbing the Hancock, garden worms and bubbles . . . . and trips to Disney World.

I’ve always had the interest and passion for IT / Math.   In high school I was often the only girl in the math classes. I introduced the computer to my students and can remember staying up most of the night working on the first Apple Commodore 64 computer.   I went on to take a “C” Programming class for fun!  My love for IT was becoming a passion!

I made a very tough decision and made a career change from teaching to sales – first selling phone systems for Contel Executone, and then recruited by Cap Gemini when I was trying to sell them a phone system.  That launched a very successful career in Business Development of large IT solutions for Cap Gemini. Again, I was one of the few females amongst my peers in IT/Telecommunications with Bellcore, Bell Labs, and AT&T as my clients.  This will date me but with tongue in cheek, “I am responsible for HDTV.”  You see . . .  I was the Account Manager for the Bell Labs account, and I placed the Cap Gemini consultants on a project called “HDTV”.  When I picked up my client for lunch one day, he gave me a tour of the facility – room after room of TVs . . . . Voila ~ we have HDTV today!!

Later in my career at Cap I was selected as part of Best Practices along with a small team to implement the $40 million international Business Process Re-engineering (BPR) effort to transform Cap Gemini into a transnational solutions-oriented company.  I led the transformation of two $18 Million business units by achieving behavior change, facilitating business transformation, driving competitive analyses, and determining strategic marketing and sales directions.  It forever changed me and provided me with a new set of tools in re-engineering, brown paper, and post-its.

After moving to Chicago, I had the opportunity to work for a short time with Cap Gemini alum who owned her own recruiting company.  Then I went off on my own in 2008 and formed Corporate Strategic Resourcing specializing in IT recruitment. It’s been 16 years now and I am honored and delighted to provide exceptional IT talent for contract, contract-to-hire and direct hire positions for small, mid-size, Fortune 500 companies, and companies with household names. Most recently I have had the privilege to meet and play a role in the career change of a Director of BI – Informatics and Analytics, Director of Infrastructure, Director of Identity Management, Security Engineer, Director of Finance, Unified Communications Consultants, and so many other talented people.   I believe in building strong, long-term relationships and in connecting people to build their careers or personal lives.
